Quiet

Other than haircuts and cat adoptions, it's been pretty quiet around here. My moods have improved, and I'm getting more done at work, but my homelife has been suffering a bit. I had a weird 8pm-4am sleep pattern going on for a few weeks, which I liked, but getting things done in the evening is a problem. Also, it's been cold here! Only in the 50s during the day--I have to wear stockings and my winter coat because I'm out in the dark.

I did finally read Frank Portman's Andromeda Klein, and if anyone would like to borrow it, please let me know and I will send it to you. I found it unsettling due to my own issues, but I'd like to discuss it in depth and plan to reread it in the future. I greatly like Portman as a writer though.

I've also been watching Glee, which is just candy. Ridiculously cute and catchy candy. The DVD comes out on my birthday.

What else? I have to make vegetarian chili for Thursday's office party. I might also make whiskey cake, but can't bring that to the party (30% of the office is LDS)! Christmas shopping this weekend. I have been playing 221B, the Facebook app tie-in game for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie. The marketing worked; I'll be going to see that along with...The Princess and the Frog. I know, I vowed never to see another damn Disney movie once I left the geek lifestyle behind, but I like the looks of this. I went to the Roosevelt Tavern with The Crimson Conquest and we might hit Moriah for sushi this week. I want to go to Tempe and look at the lights.

DULLSVILLE. I LIVES THERE.

I'm torn on Sherlock Holmes after the previews. I love the stories, and I love Robert Downey Jr, but the movie looks like an action movie set in Victorian times more than a Holmes mystery. Maybe I just have too much nostalgia for the 80s BBC productions with Jeremy Brett.

Saw Fantastic Mr Fox this weekend. Loved it. Everyone else at the theater was seeing Princess and the Frog.

And I agree that Glee is like candy. And they even got rid of my least favorite story line.

See, the action film aspect I like. Check out the game--I have to play as both Holmes and Watson, hint hint.

And I've been reading a newer Holmsian hero series by Will Thomas--the Holmes has a history as the son of Methodist missionaries in China who perished leaving him alsone, and his Watson is a shamed former felon with a soft heart for the ladies.

FMF didn't register on my radar as I never read the book. I should go see that too.

And Glee--I watched the first 2 episodes and dismissed it, but got hooked with "Mattress" because I wanted to watch "Sectionals." The whole show is better crafted than you might assume at first.
