Dear Former Friend,
Look, your financial problems don't stem from the fact that when you married 4 years ago, your parents refused to give you any money to pay for the wedding. Your financial problems stem from the fact that you married a guy 13 years older than you who has a chronic disease and who spent 10 years in college without graduating, and then spent the next 15 years not paying his student loans. It doesn't help that he's got a sense of entitlement as big as Lake Erie. Couple that with the fact that neither of you are particularly career-minded, and you live in the Cleveland area, no shit, you have financial problems. Probably renting a 4 bedroom house for the last 3 years and accumulating more clutter didn't help. But you are blaming the wrong people. Hopefully the house sale triggered some self-examination, but I doubt it.
Frankly, although your parents are a class act of crazy, you choose to have a relationship with them.
Oh, and your husband's plan to start a greenhouse, aquaphonic farm and composting system in midtown Cleveland and fund this venture with grants and donations seems crackpot and unlikely in the current economic environment, to put it mildly.
Note to self: This is why you should give up stalking people on the web. Weren't you happier before you came across all this? Weren't you?
